Please remember that you prepare your poster before you to travel to Rotterdam and that you bring the poster yourself. Do not mail the poster. One poster board will be allocated for each poster. The size of the poster stand is 150 cm wide and 200 cm high, the size of the poster board is 150cm wide and 100 cm high. The size of the useable area on the board is 145 cm wide and 95 cm high. Each piece of paper, graph, photograph, etc. that you pin onto the poster board is defined as a poster unit. Your poster presentation may be made up of one large poster unit, or several smaller poster units. In our experience, the most successful poster presentations are the ones made up of at most four poster units.
Preparing your posterGeneral: Two important points to remember when preparing your poster presentation: 1. Your audience should be able to see your material from a distance of 2-3 meters. 2. Plan your posters so that participants can grasp the significance of the work quickly.Title banner: If possible, please prepare a title banner to go accross the top of the poster. The title should be at least 100 mm wide and should state the title of the presentation and the name and affiliations of the authors. Text: Please use a clear typeface such as Helvetica or Times Roman and, if possible printed on a laser printer. Keep to a minimum numbrer of lines per sheet, preferably no more than 15 lines on a regular A4 sheet. Graphs and Diagrams: Graphs and diagrams often convey more than just words, as long as they are clear and simple. Graphs and Figures should be drawn with line-widths of at least 1 mm. Also the use of color can greatly enhance your presentation. Some suggestions: Use color within diagrams, paste individual poster units onto coloured card using different colors to guide your audience through your presentation, introduction, results, conclusions, etc. Handouts: Handouts or photocopies of either your pposter units or the ppaper are generally well appreciated by participants. If you wish to distribute handouts, you should prepare them beforehand and bring them with you.
Poster area and organizationAll poster sessions will take place in the Foyer around the main lecture hall at the conference site. There will be sufficient place, and no parallel activities are planned during the poster sessions. The session title of your poster will be clearly indicated. Posters should be mounted before the indicated time-slot in the program and removed after the time-slot. We refer to the final program for detailed information about the time-slots. Assistance and material for mounting the posters (tape and pins) will be available during the the time slots of the poster sessions at the Poster Desk.Oral presentationsA beamer and a switch-board will be available in each lecture room for electronic projections from your notebook or PC. If you wish to project your slides from a notebook, we recommend that you connect your notebook to the switch-board before the beginning of your session. Leave your notebook connected at the switch-board in stand-by mode and use the switch-board to connect it to the beamer at the beginning of your presentation. This, to allow smooth transitions between the various presentations in one session. Technical assistance is available at any time. The beamer in the Willem Burgerzaal will have a resolution of at most 1280 x 1024 pixels at 60 Hz, all other beamers have a resolution of at most 1024 x 768 pixels at 60 Hz. In addition, an overhead projector will be available in each lecture room. |
